Mallow Set to Welcome All-Ireland Camogie Champions Featuring Eimear Duignan and Ashling Thompson

Mallow is set to play its part in welcoming home Cork’s newly-crowned All-Ireland Senior Camogie champions this afternoon, with special attention on local star Eimear Duignan.

The Cork team will make their traditional stop at Mallow Train Station at approximately 4.45pm today, giving supporters a chance to welcome the Rebels home after their All-Ireland final victory over Galway.

For Mallow, the homecoming will have an extra significance this year with Eimear Duignan on the Cork panel, while Milford’s Ashling Thompson playing a superb role in midfield during Cork’s campaign.

Local supporters are being encouraged to get to the station early, with people asked to be in attendance from 4.30pm as a large crowd is expected.

Supporters are also being asked to wear red and white and bring their Cork flags, with a special effort being made to give Eimear a memorable welcome home.

Cork were crowned All-Ireland champions yesterday after overcoming Galway 2-14 to 0-19 at Croke Park, reclaiming the O’Duffy Cup for the 31st time.

Ger Manley’s side will begin their first full day as All-Ireland champions with a visit to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street before travelling back to Cork by train.

Following their Mallow stop, the team are expected to arrive at Kent Station at around 5.30pm, before travelling on an open-top bus to Grand Parade, where the official Cork homecoming is expected at approximately 6pm.

But before that, Mallow gets the chance to welcome its own All-Ireland champion home.

Mallow, 4.30pm. Red and white on. Flags ready. Let’s give Eimear and the Cork team the welcome they deserve.
