Mallow Software Company’s AI Platform Recognised by Health Innovation Hub Ireland

A software company based in Mallow is bringing locally developed technology into the national healthcare innovation conversation, after its clinic management platform was included in the product portfolio of Health Innovation Hub Ireland.

Signi5sys, founded by Sugesh Chandran, has had its flagship product, SigniQ, listed under HIHI’s AI in Healthcare category, highlighting the work of a North Cork company developing software to address practical challenges faced by healthcare providers and other service businesses.

The company’s ambition is to build technology in Mallow that can be used by businesses around the world, with clinics and allied healthcare practices remaining its primary focus as it also expands into the salon sector.

Health Innovation Hub Ireland works with the health sector and Irish businesses to support innovation and the development of solutions to healthcare challenges. The SigniQ listing brings the Mallow-developed platform to the attention of organisations interested in healthcare technology and innovation.

Signi5sys was established in 2019, when Chandran set out to bring the engineering experience he had gained working with major international technology companies to smaller businesses in Ireland.

His professional background includes Cisco, HP, Intel, Amazon Web Services and Huawei, where he says he spent two decades working on distributed systems, cloud technology and network infrastructure.

The idea behind Signi5sys was to make reliable, enterprise-level software accessible to small and medium-sized businesses without the associated cost and complexity.

That approach led to the development of SigniQ, a platform designed around the day-to-day operational needs of clinics and allied practices, with further applications for salons.

The company builds and supports its software from Mallow, using its own hardware infrastructure. It is also a member of the North Cork Business Alliance and Mallow Chamber, maintaining strong links with the local business community.

For many clinics and healthcare practices, managing appointments, payments, client communications and patient records can take up a considerable amount of time.

SigniQ brings several of these functions together in one platform, allowing businesses to manage bookings, process payments and send appointment reminders.

It can also flag clients who appear to be drifting away or are overdue for another visit, helping businesses identify opportunities to reconnect with them.

The platform also supports intake questionnaires, helping practices gather relevant information from patients as part of their processes.

Artificial intelligence is another important element of SigniQ’s development.

Practitioners can speak during a consultation and receive an editable draft note, reducing the need to create clinical notes entirely from scratch. The system also supports video consultations with automatic transcription through the company’s own AI infrastructure.

Signi5sys is now working with SIP phone vendors to extend AI-assisted note-taking to telephone calls.

The planned functionality will allow call details to be transcribed into notes on a patient’s record, helping practices manage follow-up conversations and rebooking calls more efficiently. The company plans to bring this functionality live in the coming months.

These developments reflect a wider effort to apply artificial intelligence to specific administrative challenges rather than simply adding AI as a feature. The aim is to help practitioners reduce routine paperwork and spend more time with the people they serve.

Signi5sys says SigniQ is designed to be quick to set up, requires no app installation and is supported by a locally based team.

The company’s approach is captured in its motto: “Build software that matters, the right way. Run what you need, own what you run.”

Ownership is a central part of its business model. Rather than reselling software or connecting systems it does not own, Signi5sys develops and operates the software it provides. This gives the company greater control over the platform and its ongoing development.

SigniQ is also being positioned as a business tool for web design agencies.

According to Chandran, a website can provide an online presence, but integrating SigniQ can give a business additional functionality through bookings and client management.

The company works with agency partners who can incorporate the platform into websites developed for their clients.

This model offers agencies the potential to generate recurring revenue through ongoing software services rather than relying exclusively on one-off website projects.

While clinics and allied practices remain the company’s main focus, Signi5sys is expanding SigniQ into the salon market, bringing its appointment management and client engagement tools to another service-based sector.

The company’s longer-term ambition is to grow beyond Ireland while continuing to develop its products locally.

Its philosophy is to start local and grow global, building solutions in Mallow with the potential to serve businesses internationally.

Chandran also has a personal connection to the wider North Cork area, living in Doneraile. The company’s presence in Mallow reflects the role that smaller towns can play in developing technology with an international reach.

For the town, Signi5sys represents a local technology business combining international engineering experience with software development rooted in North Cork.

As artificial intelligence becomes more prominent in business software, the company is seeking to apply it to practical needs, from consultation documentation and patient communications to appointment management and business administration.
