The North Cork road racing calendar is continuing to build momentum, with a number of major events set to take place across the region over the coming months.
Athletes from across Cork and beyond will have the opportunity to take part in a series of races organised by local clubs, including Duhallow A.C.’s upcoming race programme and the Charleville International Half Marathon, organised by North Cork A.C.
The Rockchapel 5K will take place on Friday, July 31st, 2026, with the race starting at 8pm from Paddy Molly’s Bar in Rockchapel.
Organised by Duhallow A.C., the event will feature a scenic 5K course, chip timing and prizes, with organisers welcoming runners of all abilities.
Rockchapel, located in the heart of Duhallow close to the Cork, Kerry and Limerick borders, will host runners for an evening race that forms part of the club’s “Three Great Races. One Great Club” series.
The first 120 runners to collect their race numbers on the night will receive an exclusive Rockchapel 5K race top.
The Duhallow A.C. race series will continue later in the year with the Sibly Streets 5K in Ballydesmond on Friday, September 18th, 2026 at 7.30pm.
The event will include cash prizes, age category prizes, spot prizes and a goodie bag for all entrants. A €100 bonus will also be awarded to the inaugural male and female winners.
The series will conclude with the Duhallow A.C. 5K Classic in Newmarket on Sunday, December 6th, 2026 at 1pm.
The Newmarket race is known for its fast, flat course, making it a popular choice for runners targeting personal best times. The first 750 entrants will receive a commemorative long-sleeved top.
Meanwhile, the Charleville International Half Marathon 2026 is approaching its entry limit, with approximately 200 places remaining for the popular North Cork event.
Now in its 16th year, the Charleville Half Marathon has established itself as one of Munster’s leading road races, attracting competitors with its fast and flat course.
Organised by North Cork A.C., the event will take place at 10am, with proceeds from the race supporting St. Joseph’s Foundation, which provides services for people with special needs.
The race has received its permit approval and will operate under road closure restrictions, with a three-hour time limit in place.
With a growing number of established events and new opportunities for runners of all abilities, North Cork continues to strengthen its reputation as a centre for road racing and endurance sport.
Entries remain open for the upcoming events, with organisers encouraging participants to register early.
