A new weekly community initiative aimed at celebrating the Irish language is set to begin in Doneraile this week, with “Coffee agus Gaeilge” launching at Sarah’s Tearooms Courtyard.
Starting Friday, May 22, 2026, the informal gathering will run every Friday evening from 5.00pm to 6.30pm, offering locals a relaxed setting to enjoy coffee, conversation and a cúpla focal in Irish.

Open to all levels, from fluent speakers to complete beginners, the sessions are designed to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where people can reconnect with Gaeilge in a natural, social way rather than a formal classroom setting.
Organisers say the emphasis is on ease and community, with each weekly meet-up encouraging casual conversation, confidence-building and new connections among attendees while making the most of early summer evenings in the town.
