Arc Cinema Mallow to host Mortal Kombat gaming tournament ahead of blockbuster sequel release

Arc Cinema Mallow is set to host a special Mortal Kombat Knockout Gaming Tournament on May 6th, bringing fans together for an evening of fun, nostalgia and chaotic bragging rights ahead of the release of Mortal Kombat II.

Organisers are emphasising that the event is designed as a casual, high-energy gaming night rather than a serious esports competition, with players of all levels strongly encouraged to take part.

This is very much about enjoyment over intensity, so if you arrive with a headset, custom fight stick and a spreadsheet of frame data, you may have slightly misunderstood the vibe.

The tournament will feature a 32-player 1v1 knockout bracket, with each round played as best of three fights. The Semi-Finals and Grand Final will be played as best of five, raising the stakes as competitors move deeper into the bracket.

All characters will be available, with a twist rule adding to the fun: winners must stick with their chosen fighter, while defeated players are allowed to switch characters as they progress.

The event is 18+ only, due to game content, and spaces are strictly limited. Advance booking is strongly recommended.

Spectators are welcome, with players encouraged to bring guests along to watch the action unfold. No booking is required for attendees, though seating cannot be guaranteed.

The tournament forms part of the countdown to the release of Mortal Kombat II, which arrives in cinemas on May 8th and promises bigger battles, returning fighters and high-intensity action.

Arc Cinema is inviting participants to “test your might, claim victory, and finish your popcorn” as gaming and cinema collide for one night only in Mallow.
