Together at the Castle Returns to Mallow Castle for 2026 Mental Health Event

For many people, the biggest step in seeking help is simply reaching out, and Together at the Castle is aiming to make that step a little easier when the free community event returns to Mallow Castle on Sunday, September 6.

Now in its sixth year, the event has grown into a major fixture in the Mallow community, bringing mental health and wellbeing services together with live music, local talent, family activities and entertainment in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

One of the key organisers, HSE South West Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention Martin Ryan, says the idea behind Together at the Castle has always been to bring services closer to people, without making them feel that they are attending a traditional “mental health event”.

“The biggest step for a lot of people to do is actually reach out for help,” Martin explains. “What we’re trying to do is actually make that a bit easier.”

And that approach is at the heart of the Mallow event, where people can simply come along, enjoy an afternoon with family and friends, and discover what support is available locally.

Martin says the message is broader than mental illness, with the event aiming to promote a more open attitude towards mental health.

“Mental health is about everything. It’s not just about illness,” he says. “We’re trying to achieve here the idea that mental health is all about everything, enjoying yourself, and the idea that if you have a bad day you can reach out for help.”

Together at the Castle takes place at Mallow Castle on Sunday, September 6, from 1pm to 5pm and is free to attend.
