Five-court padel centre approved for Mallow GAA complex

Planning permission has been granted for a five-court indoor padel centre at Mallow GAA’s complex on St Joseph’s Road, Carrigoon.

Cork County Council approved the application by Go Padel Ltd, which includes an indoor padel building, a separate toilet block, a reception and storage building, and a car park with vehicle and pedestrian access.

The proposed development would add to the growing availability of padel in North Cork, where Padel Sports 100 already operates two outdoor courts at Charleville Sports Complex.

In Mallow, the council sought further information on opening hours, noise and the relationship between the proposed development and other permitted works at the GAA complex.

Go Padel said the centre would operate from 7am to 11pm, seven days a week. It confirmed there would be no public address system, loudspeakers or amplified music, and that the courts would be fully enclosed with internally directed lighting.

Planning conditions include noise limits at nearby homes and a requirement for construction and operational noise management plans. A development contribution of €23,057 is also payable to Cork County Council.

A separate application by Padel Sports 100 for two modular courts at the Lidl store on Courthouse Road in Fermoy has also been granted permission. The courts have received temporary permission for five years.
