Acorn Veterinary Clinic, which operates practices in both Mallow and Kildorrery, has been acquired by international veterinary group Independent Vetcare Ireland Ltd in a deal that further reflects ongoing consolidation within Ireland’s veterinary sector.
The practice, which provides services to both farm and companion animal clients, will now become part of the wider IVC Evidensia network following notification to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC). A phase one review of the acquisition has been launched, with third-party submissions invited as part of the assessment process.
Acorn Veterinary Clinic has long-standing roots in the region. The original Kildorrery practice was established in 1958, initially serving the local dairy and agricultural community. The Mallow clinic was later opened in 2006, expanding the practice’s services into one of North Cork’s largest urban centres.
Together, the two clinics serve a wide client base across Mallow, Kildorrery and surrounding areas, providing veterinary care for both large and small animals.
Under the group model, Acorn Veterinary Clinic is expected to retain its local branding and clinical autonomy, while gaining access to wider network support, training and centralised administrative resources through the international organisation.
The acquisition reflects the continued growth of global veterinary groups in Ireland, alongside a broader trend of consolidation across the sector.
In a message to clients, Acorn Veterinary Clinic said it is joining the IVC group but reassured customers that day-to-day operations will remain unchanged, with the same staff and commitment to care.
The clinic said the partnership will provide enhanced support, improved diagnostics and access to advanced treatment options, while maintaining its role as a local practice at the heart of the community in both Mallow and Kildorrery.
