C103 Cork Today Team Recognised at Law Society Justice Media Awards 2026

The Cork Today Show team on C103FM has been recognised at the Law Society of Ireland Justice Media Awards 2026, recently.

Presenters Patricia Messinger and Mairead Twohig received a Merit Certificate in the Broadcast Journalism (Radio – Local) category for their entry “There it is in black and white.”

The judges praised the feature, describing it as a strong example of public legal education.

The citation for the entry stated: “This is an experienced team, delivering a feature that can be defined as public legal education. With expert legal guests, this report focused on matters of importance to their listeners.”

The award recognises the work carried out by the Cork Today team in providing listeners with accessible information on legal issues through expert interviews and clear reporting.

The Justice Media Awards are presented annually by the Law Society of Ireland and celebrate excellence in journalism that promotes public understanding of the law, the legal system and access to justice issues.

In the Broadcast Journalism (Radio – Local) category, the overall award was won by Niall Delaney of Ocean FM for “Beaten to Death – The Tom Niland case”. Merit certificates were also awarded to Kevin McDermott, Joe Finnegan and Eoghan Murphy of Shannonside Northern Sound FM, alongside the C103FM team.
