Mallow United AFC is set to mark a major milestone on 6 June, celebrating 100 years since the club was founded with a full day of sporting events, community gatherings and commemorations.
The centenary celebrations will take place at St. Gobnait’s Pitch, where a series of youth football tournaments will kick off the day’s programme. The U15 Girls Tournament is scheduled for 10:30am, followed by the U14 Boys Tournament at 1:00pm, bringing together young players from across the region.
A key highlight of the day will be the official centenary opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:00pm, which will feature special guest Packie Bonner, the former Republic of Ireland and Celtic goalkeeper.
Later in the evening, celebrations will continue with a centenary dinner dance at The Hibernian Hotel at 7:00pm. The ticketed event will bring together past and present players, supporters and community members to reflect on a century of local football history.
Club organisers described the occasion as a celebration of “a century of pride, passion and community,” and say they are looking forward to welcoming everyone who has been part of Mallow United’s journey over the past 100 years.
