Castlemagner-Based Donovan Announces Cork Return with Everyman Theatre Concert on July 11

Folk music legend Donovan is set to return to Cork this summer with a special performance at The Everyman on Saturday, July 11.

The iconic singer-songwriter, best known for 1960s classics including Catch the Wind, Sunshine Superman, Mellow Yellow and Hurdy Gurdy Man, has called Castlemagner home for the past 30 years.

Now preparing to celebrate his 80th year, Donovan says the 2026 tour reflects what he describes as “The Tale of the Gael”, a musical and personal journey rooted in his Irish, Scottish and Welsh heritage.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential folk and psychedelic artists of his generation, Donovan rose to fame during the mid-1960s folk boom and became closely associated with artists including Bob Dylan, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin. He famously introduced finger-picking guitar techniques to John Lennon and Paul McCartney during the Beatles’ stay in India in 1968.

Over a career spanning six decades, Donovan has released dozens of albums and earned a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His most recent album, Gaelia, was released in 2022.

The Cork concert begins at 8pm, with tickets priced at €36. The performance is expected to run for one hour and 30 minutes, plus interval, and is suitable for all ages.
