A community-led initiative in Mallow has successfully completed a doll restoration project that has seen donated toys repaired, refreshed and rehomed with local children, giving them a second life and helping to reduce waste.
The project was delivered by Kinga Ekert through the Tuloop Doll Stories Club in partnership with Mallow Library. It focused on restoring a collection of pre-loved dolls donated by members of the public.

Over several weeks, the dolls were carefully cleaned, repaired and refurbished before being matched with children locally. The aim of the initiative was to keep usable toys out of landfill while also ensuring they bring joy to new homes within the community.
Kinga Ekert said the transformation of the dolls and their journey to new homes made the project particularly meaningful.
“It was so special to see these dolls transformed,” she said. “I’m thrilled we found them all great homes where they’ll be loved again.”
The restored toys have now been successfully distributed to local families, marking the completion of the current phase of the project.
Organisers say a second donation drive is already being planned in the run-up to Christmas, giving residents another opportunity to contribute unused dolls for restoration and reuse.
Updates and future project announcements will be shared through the club’s online channels, including their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tuloop.giftshop
