Strong Community Turnout for Mallow GAA ‘Meitheal’ Over St Brigid’s Bank Holiday Weekend

Mallow GAA saw a fantastic show of community spirit over the St Brigid’s Bank Holiday weekend as up to 40 club members came together for the club’s first-ever Mallow Meitheal.

Players, coaches and supporters from across the club volunteered their time and energy, working side by side to improve facilities throughout the grounds. The initiative was warmly welcomed and praised as a positive step for the continued development of Mallow GAA and its facilities.

A significant amount of work was completed over the course of the weekend. Outdoors, volunteers unblocked all external drains, power-washed the dressing room path area, cut back hedging, refreshed three flowerbeds and cleared the pathway leading to the astro turf. The general cage and bin areas were cleared and cleaned, astro paths were edged, remedial safety works were carried out, and shed doors were repaired and painted.

Inside the club, dressing rooms received a full clean, with old signage, hooks and lockers removed and new signage installed. Damaged, broken or missing ceiling tiles were replaced in key areas, while all three outdoor toilets were cleaned, painted and fitted with new signage.

Club representatives expressed huge appreciation to everyone who took part, noting that the impact of the work will be clear for all members and visitors to see.

For those who were unable to assist on this occasion, the Meitheal Steering Group confirmed that further opportunities to get involved are planned, with more works already in the pipeline.

The success of the St Brigid’s Bank Holiday Meitheal underlined once again the strong sense of pride, volunteerism and community at the heart of Mallow GAA.
