Charleville native Alec Morrissey, has been named one of the co-chairs of the newly formed BITA Ireland Midwest Chapter, an exciting merger of BITA’s Limerick and Ireland West chapters.

An Avondhu GAA referee as well currently officiating at Munster and National Camogie panel official, Alec brings a wealth of experience both on and off the pitch. He has spent 35 years refereeing across Cork and in times officiated the Munster Camogie Minor Final, as well as Kerry County Junior Camogie and Minor Finals.
His attention to detail and commitment to fairness on the field now extends into business networking.

Educated at CBS Charleville and St John’s College Waterford with a diploma in Theology, he has been active in business-to-business sales since 2004, with deep knowledge of the Limerick and Midwest business landscape.
Since 2017, he has also been a Media Planner at the Limerick Post Newspaper, advising clients on print and social media campaigns through the family-owned publication.

Colleagues describe him as exceptionally diligent, always putting clients’ needs first, and leveraging his extensive network to create opportunities.

Joining Alec as co-chair is Paddy Tamplin. Together, they will guide the new chapter, which aims to strengthen connections, foster collaboration, and create opportunities across Limerick, Galway, and the wider Midwest region. The chapter will host networking, educational, and social events both online and in-person, continuing BITA’s mission of matching buyers and suppliers while building meaningful business relationships.

The British and Irish Trading Alliance (BITA) is a non-profit networking organisation with a vibrant community of businesses invested in each other’s success. The launch of the Ireland Midwest Chapter represents a significant step forward for BITA in Ireland, promising stronger partnerships, new beginnings, and continued growth.
