Cllr. Tony O’Shea has confirmed that significant progress continues to be made on the redevelopment of Mallow Swimming Pool, with the project now moving closer to completion and a reopening anticipated in June.
Works on site have advanced steadily in recent weeks, with the external insulation wrap now complete and roofing works fully finished. The new extension has been constructed and internal fit-out works are currently underway as the building begins to take its final shape.

Mechanical and electrical installations are ongoing throughout the facility, while tiling works are progressing across multiple areas of the building. Outside, the construction of the extended car park has commenced, with underground services already in place to support the new layout.
The project has also reached a key milestone with the completion and energising of the new ESB substation building, ensuring the site has the required electrical infrastructure in place. The installation of solar photovoltaic panels is expected to follow in the next phase of works.
Once completed, the upgraded swimming pool is expected to provide a modern and greatly enhanced leisure facility for the Mallow community and wider district, marking a significant investment in local amenities.
Cllr. O’Shea noted that it is encouraging to see the development progressing at pace, with the finishing stages now in sight as the reopening draws closer.
