Mallow Athlete Christopher Horgan Claims Second Overall at Clonmel Triathlon Season Opener

Mallow athlete Christopher Horgan delivered a strong performance at the opening round of the national triathlon series in Clonmel, finishing second overall in the first open water event of the season.

The race marked the start of the Irish national triathlon series and featured the traditional swim, bike and run disciplines contested under open water conditions.

Horgan produced a consistent all-round performance across all three stages to secure a place on the overall podium, finishing second in a highly competitive field.

The event also saw strong participation from club athletes, with several competitors achieving success in their respective age group categories.

Among the standout performances, Patricia Murphy and Sinead Renton both secured third place finishes in their categories, while Laura Owens claimed second place in her age group.

Club representatives praised all participants for their efforts in what was described as a challenging early-season race, with particular recognition given to Horgan’s podium finish at national level.

The result marks a strong start to the season for the Mallow-based athlete as attention now turns to the remaining rounds of the national series.
