Cormac O’Callaghan of O’Leary Stone Kanturk Cycling Club delivered a standout performance at the Paracycling National Time Trial Championships, securing a bronze medal in the C1–5 category after a challenging 30.7km race in County Mayo.
The event, promoted by Castlebar Cycling Club and organised under Cycling Ireland, tested riders over a demanding course in Swinford, with competitors also facing difficult conditions on the day, including high temperatures.

Speaking to GreasyChain Interviews after the race, O’Callaghan said he was satisfied with third place in tough conditions, noting that the heat and course distance made pacing particularly challenging. He reflected on his return to competition following surgery earlier in the year and said he is focused on rebuilding race fitness through the remainder of the season.
The bronze medal adds to a strong weekend of results for O’Callaghan, who also placed second in the National Championship Road Race in Corkagh Park, Dublin, and secured third place in all National Championship track events at Sundrive Velodrome in Dublin, recently
The consistent performances across road, track and time trial disciplines underline a strong return to form for the Kanturk-based rider as he continues his comeback season.
Meanwhile, attention now turns to a busy National Championships weekend in the junior and under-23 categories.
In the Under-23 race on Sunday, Darragh McGee will line out alongside Rory Condon of Zappi Junior Race Team, while Saturday’s Junior race will feature Oran O’Callaghan and Colin Sheehan, both representing strong local interest at national level.
