Water restrictions are continuing in Mallow due to the recent good weather.
Works are taking place on the reservoir that serves the southside of the town including Bearforest, Ballyellis, Ballydaheen, Gouldshill, Carhookeal, Quartertown and surrounding areas.
Irish Water has said that levels in many water sources are significantly lower than normal for this time of year following a drier than average 12 months.
Uisce Éireann’s Water Operations Manager, Niall O’Riordan said: “We understand the inconvenience nighttime restrictions can cause to the community; however, given the increased demand they are essential to maintain a daytime water supply. We are asking people to support us and takes a few simple steps to reduce their water use in their homes, businesses, and gardens, such as taking a shorter shower, placing a basin in the sink and fixing leaking taps.”
The restrictions have been in place all weekend but are expected to be finished tomorrow, Monday.
Rain is expected tonight, Sunday and for the next few days so everything should return to normal with water for your cup of tea and shower!
