Castletownroche Celebrates North Cork Village Competition Success

There is plenty to celebrate in North Cork this weekend as Castletownroche has been recognised as the Large Village Winner for North Cork in this year’s Cork County Village Competition.

The achievement comes at a particularly fitting time, with Castletownroche preparing to welcome visitors for its village festival this weekend, providing another opportunity to showcase the community spirit, pride and hard work that continues to make the village such a special place.

The competition recognised villages across Cork for their commitment to cleanliness, pride of place and environmental care, with North Cork communities once again making a strong impression.

Alongside Castletownroche’s success in the large village category, Knocknagree and Coolagown were named North Cork winners in the small village category.

A total of 65 villages took part in this year’s competition, with the achievements reflecting the dedication of local volunteers, community groups and residents who continue to invest time and effort into improving their areas.

Across Cork, 21 villages shared prize funding of more than €16,000, with some communities recording litter-free inspections throughout all six weeks of judging.

For Castletownroche, the award adds to what promises to be a memorable weekend as the village celebrates its festival and welcomes visitors from across North Cork and beyond.
