Could This Glantane Honesty Box Bakery Be The Sweetest Hidden Gem?

Hidden among the rolling countryside near Glantane, one tiny roadside bakery is quickly becoming a most talked-about food stops.

Homestead Nibbles is attracting a growing following thanks to its charming honesty box setup, where customers can pick up freshly baked sourdough, brownies and sweet treats every Sunday morning.

And judging by this week’s menu, restraint may be difficult.

This Sunday’s lineup includes freshly baked sourdough loaves, gooey stuffed cookies and what the bakery describes as “ridiculously loaded brownies”, the kind that apparently require “at least three napkins and zero self-control”.

Everything is homemade in the family kitchen before being carefully stocked in the roadside honesty box, allowing visitors to stop by at their leisure. The concept is delightfully simple: choose your treats, leave cash in the honesty box or pay by Revolut, and head off with a box full of homemade baking.

Set against the peaceful backdrop of the Cork countryside, the small operation has struck a chord with both locals and passing motorists looking for artisan food, homemade comfort and a slower, more community-focused experience.

The honesty box opens every Sunday from 10am, though regulars say arriving early is essential, as popular items often sell out quickly. The bakery has rapidly become a sought-after stop for coffee companions, family treats and what it jokingly calls “emergency brownie situations”.
