A Mallow-based electrical firm has secured a major contract at one of Ireland’s most iconic sporting venues, with McSherry Electrical Ltd appointed to deliver the sports lighting system for the new Laya Arena at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) in Dublin.
The RDS is undergoing a significant transformation as it continues to evolve into a world-class multi-purpose venue for sport and entertainment, hosting high-profile events such as the Dublin Horse Show as well as Leinster Rugby fixtures in the United Rugby Championship and European Rugby Champions Cup.
McSherry Electrical will work in partnership with Musco Lighting and Elliott Group on the delivery of a fully integrated design-and-build lighting solution, with the project engineered to meet the highest international standards for elite sport and broadcast requirements.
The new lighting system will provide 4K HD broadcast-compliant illumination, advanced programmable control systems with dimming and scene-setting capabilities, and integrated audio-linked show lighting with colour-changing technology. It is also expected to improve visual comfort and uniformity while reducing energy use and ongoing maintenance demands.
The company’s scope of works includes the full sports lighting package, from initial design through installation, commissioning, and final handover, in close coordination with the RDS project team.
McSherry Electrical said it is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Musco Lighting, with previous major collaborations including Croke Park, Aviva Stadium, and the Principality Stadium.
The Mallow firm described the Laya Arena project as a landmark development and said it is looking forward to playing a key role in bringing the upgraded facility to life at one of Ireland’s most prestigious sporting venues.
