Boherbue Handball Club Star Cian O’Connor and Mallow’s Tommy Walsh Crowned All-Ireland U15 Doubles Champions

Boherbue and Mallow handball were in the spotlight last weekend at the All-Ireland finals in Croke Park, where Cian O’Connor of Boherbue and Tommy Walsh of Mallow were crowned All-Ireland U15 Doubles 40×20 champions after a hard-fought victory over Wexford in the final.

The pair had earlier secured a challenging semi-final win against Tyrone on Saturday, demonstrating composure, skill, and determination. Both players were expertly guided by coaches Tadgh O’Connor and Paul Walsh, who praised their commitment and teamwork throughout the tournament.

The success was a source of immense pride for the players’ families, particularly Cian’s parents, Tadgh and Carol O’Connor, who were overjoyed at seeing their son reach the top of the podium. The clubs themselves—Boherbue Handball Club and Mallow Handball Club—celebrated the achievement, recognising the dedication and talent of both young athletes.

On returning to Alley on Sunday evening, the celebrations began immediately, marking a memorable occasion for the players, their families, and the local handball community. The All-Ireland victory highlights the strength of youth handball in North Cork and underlines the important role local clubs play in nurturing future champions.
