Plans have been submitted to Cork County Council for a new National Car Testing (NCT) centre in North Cork, which could be constructed along the N20 in the Kilknockan and Lackanalooha townlands near Mallow.
Developer Kilknockan Partnership has proposed a two-storey facility featuring ample car parking, a bicycle shelter, EV charging points, and supporting site development works. These include an internal access road, pedestrian pathways, footpaths, public lighting, new signage, landscaping, and boundary improvements.
The plans also outline improvements to the existing entrance onto the N20, including the addition of a right-hand turning lane to facilitate safer access to the site.
Cork County Council is expected to make a decision on the planning application by 24 April 2026.
