Kanturk RFC will mark a major milestone this weekend with the official opening of its new pitch and floodlights, a significant investment that promises to enhance rugby in the town for years to come.
The club has extended an open invitation to the local community to join the celebrations this Saturday, November 29, as the upgraded facilities are formally unveiled at the rugby grounds. The development represents a major boost for players, supporters and volunteers alike, providing improved training and matchday conditions across all levels of the club.
Proceedings will begin at 6.00pm with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the new pitch and floodlighting. From there, attention will shift indoors to the newly refurbished clubhouse, where the bar will be open for live coverage of the Munster v Stormers URC clash, setting the tone for a strong evening of rugby.
The highlight of the night comes at 7.00pm, when Kanturk take on Skibbereen in a J1 League fixture, played under lights in what will be a proud and historic occasion for the club. The match offers supporters a first chance to see senior rugby in action beneath the new floodlighting system.
To ensure a smooth evening, a courtesy bus will operate from the rugby club to The Square in Kanturk at 10.30pm for those continuing the night in town. Due to limited parking at the grounds, attendees are encouraged to carpool where possible.
