Destiny Okharedia, a student at the Patrician Academy in Mallow, ex-Mallow United player, and current Cork City academy star, as well as a key player on the school’s U15 soccer team, has been called up to represent the Republic of Ireland Boys Under-15s.
He is one of three Cork City academy stars included in Jason Donohue’s first 2011-born U15 squad, as the newest crop of Irish starlets take to the international stage. Destiny will feature in a double-header against Spain in Alicante this week, taking on the challenge in his natural striking role.
Destiny has been in fine form for the Patrician Academy, scoring in a thrilling 4-3 extra-time win against Fermoy and adding another in a 6-0 victory over St. Augustine’s. His performances at school and club level have earned him this well-deserved international recognition.
Mallow United expressed their pride, saying, “What a fantastic achievement by one of our own! Let’s all get behind Destiny as he steps onto the international stage and the next step of a wonderful journey.”
Ireland’s U15s will take to the field in Spain on 28th October with a 3:00 PM kickoff and again on 30th October at 9:30 AM.
