Charleville, Kanturk, Mallow and Mallow/Dolphin All Score Big Wins

Mallow and Charleville scored big wins, while Kanturk sauntered to victory during another thrilling weekend of rugby across the region.

Charleville & District Rugby Club edged out rivals Fermoy RFC 22-18 in a classic local derby. Fermoy led 18-10 at halftime, but Charleville came out in the second half determined to take all the points. Scoring two unanswered tries and holding Fermoy scoreless, Charleville secured a hard-fought win. Tries came from Dave Forde, Jack Buckley, and Jesse Smith, with Kian Smith adding two conversions and a penalty, marking a strong start to the season for the Red & Whites.

Kanturk impressed with a commanding 33-5 victory over Clanwilliam. Dominating from the outset, Kanturk led 21-0 at halftime thanks to a penalty try and successful conversions from Paul O’Keeffe and Bryan O’Sullivan. Further second-half tries from Dylan O’Connor and Bryan O’Sullivan put the result beyond doubt, while Clanwilliam scored a single try.

Mallow hosted a nail-biting encounter against Clonakilty, securing a bonus point win 26-19. Vice-Captain and Man of the Match Dylan Walsh starred with three tries, supported by a try from Sam Glynn, while Riley Harrison converted three of the four tries.

Meanwhile, Mallow/Dolphin U18.5 Girls recorded their second consecutive win with a comprehensive victory over Tralee in Cork. The amalgamated Cork side showed composure and cohesion, rounding off a successful weekend across the age groups.
