Mallow Castle will once again come alive this Sunday as “Together at the Castle” returns with an afternoon packed with activities, awareness, and community spirit.
The free mental health and wellbeing event, organised in partnership with Cork/Kerry Community Healthcare (HSE), Mallow Chamber, Cork County Council, Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and the mental health organisations SHINE and See Change, runs from 1pm to 5pm and promises something for everyone.
Visitors can enjoy yoga sessions, sports and games, crafts, Kinderama, the Wobbly Circus, and an animal roadshow, along with food and market stalls. A dedicated quiet area in the Walled Garden will also provide a calm space for those who need it.
Now in its fourth year, the event continues to grow in popularity, attracting 6,500 people last year. Its focus remains on promoting positive mental health, highlighting local services, and creating a space where the whole community can come together.
Martin Ryan, HSE Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention with HSE South West, spoke on C103’s Cork Today show ahead of the event.
“The event itself is unique in the way it brings together core parts of our community. We have the HSE community-based services, the county council, and the chamber involved. It’s about showcasing what’s available locally and encouraging all aspects of the community to work together,” he said.
Co-founder Sharon Cregg, also speaking on C103 Cork Today show described the event as “brilliant for Mallow” and said she was “super proud to have it.” She launched the initiative during her first year as Mallow Chamber President.
Current Chamber President Estelle Varney echoed those sentiments, highlighting the event’s impact:
“Together at the Castle has become a much-loved event that brings people of all ages together in a warm and welcoming space to learn about mental health supports, access helpful information, and enjoy a day filled with fun, colour and connection. It plays a vital role in breaking down stigma and making resources more visible and approachable for everyone in our community.”
With a mix of entertainment, education, and support services, Together at the Castle continues to establish itself as a flagship event for Mallow, one that celebrates both wellbeing and community.
