A Cork filmmaker with family connections to Mallow has released a powerful new short film exploring dementia, memory loss, and family trauma.
Colm Moloney of Lemurtale Media, has launched his latest short film, Remember Her, on YouTube. The emotional film follows a daughter struggling to come to terms with her mother’s worsening dementia as suppressed family trauma begins to resurface.

The film stars Pamela Kiely, Anna Kitty O’Connor and Linda O’Flaherty, with Moloney serving as both writer and director.
Remember Her explores the emotional complexity of visiting a loved one experiencing memory loss. A familiar childhood book provides moments of comfort, but the film also portrays the confusion, grief, and emotional toll dementia can have on families.
Speaking to Mallow and District Live, Moloney said the story was inspired by his own personal experiences.
“For a little bit of background, I used a lot of inspiration from my own personal experiences ‘living’ in a hospice during those final days and weeks. The nurses looked after everyone with extreme care and understanding,” he said.
“Even when it came to the production, I decided to film in two hospices to replicate it and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful in accommodating us.”
Moloney, who runs Lemurtale Media, creates short films, documentaries, music videos and commercial projects, both independently and for clients. His work focuses on telling compelling, emotionally driven stories designed to connect with audiences and leave a lasting impression.
The film’s release also coincides with dementia awareness initiatives across Cork led by The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, including Denim Day for Dementia, which encourages people to raise awareness and support those living with the condition.
The initiative is supported locally by community groups in Blarney, Mallow, Macroom and Bessboro, highlighting the growing importance of dementia awareness across Cork communities.
Remember Her is now available to watch on YouTube and offers a powerful and moving portrayal of dementia’s impact on individuals and families.
