Motorists travelling between Mallow and Cork are advised to expect overnight disruption this week, with the N20 due to close for three consecutive nights to allow for essential road works.
The closures will take place from 8pm to 6am on Monday 1, Tuesday 2 and Wednesday 3 September, with the road reopening each morning to ensure daytime traffic is unaffected.
During the works, Gardaí have confirmed that a diversion will be in place. Southbound traffic leaving Mallow will be redirected onto the R619, passing through Kilvealaton West, Drommahane and Bweeng before joining the R579 at Creans Cross. From there, the route continues to Cloghroe, where drivers will switch to the R617 through Blarney before rejoining the N20.
The diversion will operate in reverse for those travelling northbound, with local access maintained at all times. Gardaí are reminding motorists to follow the directions of traffic management staff, observe the diversion signage, and take extra care while driving along the alternative route.
