New “One-Stop Shop” for Combat Fitness Opens in Mallow with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Launch

A new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) school has opened in Quartertown, Mallow, as part of a growing “one-stop shop” for combat fitness in the area.

Curadh Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, led by Rory Hennebry, the programme offers classes for both children and adults, introducing students to BJJ, a discipline centred on submission grappling, where practitioners learn to control and subdue opponents using joint locks, chokes, and pins. With no striking involved, it provides a safe and engaging way to build fitness, confidence, and self-defence skills, while also being an addictive and enjoyable full-body workout.

The addition of BJJ is part of a wider expansion by Curadh Muay Thai and Fitness, which, in partnership with Susan Kelly’s Wellness Warrior Coaching, is transforming its new base at Quartertown Industrial Estate into a comprehensive hub for combat sports and overall fitness.

The facility now offers a wide range of disciplines under one roof, including Muay Thai, boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and striking classes, alongside personal training, nutritional guidance, and wellness support. With increased indoor space, outdoor training areas, and ample free parking, the gym is designed to accommodate multiple classes simultaneously and cater to all levels of ability.

As part of its commitment to inclusivity, the gym has also introduced weekly classes for children with additional needs, including autism. These sessions run every Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, providing a safe, fun, and supportive environment where children can build confidence and stay active.

“We want every child in our community to feel welcome and have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of Muay Thai in a safe and supportive environment,” said founders Gerry and Tony.
