McSherry Electrical Ltd, based in Mallow, Co. Cork, is celebrating 40 years in business, marking four decades of growth from a specialist electrical services provider to one of Ireland’s most respected engineering and contracting firms.
Founded in 1986 by Brian McSherry, the company has built a reputation for quality, safety, and customer service across multiple sectors, from industrial and manufacturing projects to sports and leisure facilities.
Featured in January’s Building Ireland Magazine to mark the milestone, McSherry Electrical has expanded its expertise beyond its original focus on local manufacturing to work with clients in food and beverage, life sciences, healthcare, education, water treatment, and sports lighting. The company remains family‑led, with Brian’s sons Neil, Ian, and Rory McSherry actively involved, and employs around 80 staff, most of whom live locally. Many of the team start as apprentices and progress into supervisory, project management, and senior roles, a career pathway the company proudly nurtures.
Managing Director Neil McSherry credits the company’s success to a combination of long-standing experience, investment in people, and specialised technical expertise. McSherry Electrical has delivered major national projects, including state-of-the-art LED floodlighting systems at Croke Park and other iconic stadiums, alongside industrial contracts for companies such as Danone, Dairygold, Kerry Foods, Pepsi, and Teeling Whiskey Distillery.
The firm operates under internationally recognised standards – ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 45001 for health and safety – reflecting its commitment to continuous improvement and best practice.
