Mallow-based McSherry Electrical Ltd has been appointed as Design & Build Specialist on the new All-Weather Track at Tipperary Racecourse, set to be the largest sports lighting project ever delivered in Ireland.
Work has officially begun on the 2.2km track, which is scheduled for completion by September 2027 and will host a full winter racing programme for 2027/28.
In partnership with Musco Lighting, McSherry Electrical is supplying all floodlighting, intelligent control systems, and site-wide electrical infrastructure, providing the complete electrical backbone for the venue. The main construction contract has been awarded to Atlantic Golf Construction, while Martin Collins Enterprises Ltd will install the polytrack surface.
The Tipperary Racecourse project follows a string of high-profile national installations by McSherry Electrical, including a major LED floodlighting upgrade at Croke Park, Ireland’s largest stadium and the headquarters of the GAA, as well as cutting-edge lighting systems at Dexcom Stadium for Connacht Rugby and at Three Rock Rovers Hockey Club, widely regarded as one of Ireland’s best-lit hockey pitches.
From Tipperary to Dublin, the Mallow-based team continues to set the standard in world-class sports lighting, delivering innovative, high-performance solutions that combine broadcast-quality illumination with intelligent control systems.
