Man and Teen charged with Murder of Doneraile man

A man in his 20s and a teenage boy have been charged with the murder of a father of four in the north Cork village of Doneraile at the weekend.

Emergency services were called to the deceased’s home in the early hours of Sunday morning. The man, named locally as Barry Daly, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Today, 2 people were brought to Mallow District Court charged with Daly’s murder.

20 year old, Alex Deady with an address at Glen View, Convent Road in Doneraile did not reply when the murder charge was put to him, according to Detective Garda Gary Costello.

Judge Colm Roberts remanded him in custody, saying a bail application could not be considered today because of the nature of the charge.

Meanwhile, Detective Garda Noelle McSweeney gave evidence of arresting the 17-year-old.

She said he also made no reply when the murder charge was put to him.

Both have been appointed free legal aid and will re-appear via video link next week.

Technical and forensic examinations of the area outside Mr Daly’s home and inside the boundary wall of Doneraile Park have since been completed and a post-mortem examination has also been conducted on Mr Daly’s body.
