McSherry Electrical is taking centre stage, delivering a €2 million LED floodlight upgrade that will make Croke Park sparkle like a diamond.
The system will debut on the global stage this September when a sold-out crowd watches the Pittsburgh Steelers face the Minnesota Vikings in the NFL International Series.
The Mallow-based family firm partnered with global lighting leader Musco Lighting to install cutting-edge LED technology that provides world-class illumination while reducing energy use.
The system enhances playing conditions, ensures broadcast-quality lighting, and reduces maintenance, a major step in Croke Park’s drive for sustainability and innovation.
Founded by Brian McSherry and now led by Managing Director Neil McSherry, the company has evolved from serving manufacturing and process industries to becoming a leading force in sports infrastructure across Ireland and the UK.
Neil McSherry said:
“Croke Park is at the heart of Irish sporting life, and we’re proud that a Mallow-based firm can deliver a project of this scale. Working with Musco allows us to showcase Irish expertise on a global stage, combining performance with sustainable solutions.”
The upgrade replaces the stadium’s 2007 floodlights with high-performance LEDs, putting Croke Park alongside premier venues such as Wembley Stadium, the Etihad Stadium, and Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. Peter McKenna, Stadium Director at Croke Park, described it as “a major milestone in our drive for sustainability and innovation.”
McSherry Electrical has also completed lighting projects at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Wexford Park, and Connacht Rugby’s Sports Grounds in Galway, with upcoming projects including one of the UK’s leading Premiership football clubs.
Employing 80 staff locally, the firm demonstrates the skill, innovation, and ambition of a Mallow company that has truly illuminated its way to worldwide recognition.
