Mallow is gearing up for another vibrant celebration as the town prepares for the 2026 St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Set to take place on Tuesday, 17th March, at 2:30pm on Main Street, with participants assembling from 2:00pm on Park Road, the parade promises a fun-filled afternoon for the whole community.
This year’s theme, “Fit for St. Patrick’s Day!”, will see local groups from across the district take part, ensuring a colourful display of creativity, music, and community spirit. Bígí linn!
Leading the parade as Grand Marshal will be Jack Cronin, a proud Mallow native with family connections in Mourneabbey. Jack is an internationally acclaimed boccia player, having won gold in the pairs competition at the Sydney Paralympics in 2000, and is widely respected for his achievements and dedication to the sport.
Jack is well-known in the community, having trained locally at the Hibernian Hotel, and recently took part in the Mourneabbey Movie Awards fundraiser, where he portrayed the adult Christy Browne from My Left Foot, helping make the event a huge success.
The parade committee is inviting volunteers to act as stewards and local groups who wish to take part to get in touch as soon as possible. Interested parties can contact Mary O’Brien at 086 323 3779 / naionratd@gmail.com, or Cllr Gearóid Murphy at 087 660 2868 / g.murphy.bl@hotmail.com.
With community spirit, colour, and celebration at the heart of the event, this year’s parade promises to be another unforgettable St. Patrick’s Day in Mallow.
