Mallow Town FC, sponsored by Albert Lynch’s, have made a sensational start to their maiden season in AUL Division 3, topping the league with seven wins from seven and a 100% record. Their outstanding form has also earned them the Cork AUL Team of the Month award for October.
The club commented, “Great work being done with our adult team in their first season. Seven wins out of seven in the league was rewarded by picking up AUL Team of the Month for October.”
Mallow Town currently sit five points clear at the top, having scored an impressive 29 goals so far. Bweeng Celtic occupy third place on 13 points.
Bweeng Celtic recently progressed to the quarter-finals of the President’s Cup, defeating Los Zarcos B 2-0 in a display of teamwork and determination. “We progress to the next round of the President’s Cup after a great all-around effort from the lads. Everybody gave 100% on the pitch, and we got the result we were after,” the club said.
Bweeng, who recently received sponsorship from the Hibernian Hotel, will now face Greenwood FC Cork in the quarter-finals. Having already met in the league this season, Bweeng emerged 2-1 winners, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive encounter.
Meanwhile, other local sides are also enjoying strong runs. Boher Celtic have won five on the bounce and currently sit fifth in Cork AUL Division 1, while Banteer are second in the Cork AUL Premier Division 1 with 12 points from six games.
