Mallow ladies rugby honoured the memory of Nicola Carey by retiring the number 2 jersey for the season, a fitting tribute to a founding member and stalwart of the women’s team who sadly passed away in July this year.
Nicola’s commitment and infectious spirit epitomised everything the team stands for both on and off the pitch.
The tribute came ahead of a hard-fought 25-19 defeat away to Thurles in the Division 2 Cup semi-final.
Despite the loss, the team carried Nicola’s memory onto the field, as they will do for the season ahead as they play with the passion and camaraderie she championed throughout her career.
Nicola was known not just for her skill and diligence, but for encouraging those around her to give their best and for always bringing fun and positivity to every training session and match day.
