A total of 352 Cork pupils will each receive a free copy of The Brightest Star by author Meg Grehan, illustrated by Nene Lonergan, as part of a nationwide scheme benefiting more than 3,500 children across 91 schools.
Knocknagree National School and Cullen National School are among those taking part, with pupils set to benefit directly from the initiative.
The programme is funded through Enterprise Mobility’s ROAD Forward initiative, which supports organisations advancing social equity across North America and Europe. Through this partnership, Children’s Books Ireland has already donated more than 23,500 books to schoolchildren nationwide since 2021, helping bring accessible, engaging stories into classrooms and foster a lasting love of reading.
Following an extension of the initiative, Children’s Books Ireland will receive €240,000 in funding through to 2030, ensuring that even more pupils continue to benefit from free books in the years ahead.
