Mallow’s beloved Gate Cinema is getting a full-scale transformation this month as it prepares to relaunch under the Arc Cinema brand. The upgrade marks one of the biggest local entertainment investments in recent years, with work already underway on a major refurbishment designed to give local audiences a more luxurious and modern movie experience.
During October, screenings will continue on a reduced schedule while construction takes place behind the scenes. The cinema will then close briefly for final works before reopening in early November, just in time for the release of Wicked: For Good later that month.
When doors reopen, visitors can expect a completely reimagined space featuring plush reclining seats, redesigned foyer areas, and cutting-edge screen and sound technology. The new layout will also introduce Coca-Cola Freestyle machines offering more than 100 drink combinations, adding to the refreshed look and feel.
Cinema manager Simon Greasley said the team is eager to welcome audiences back:
“We’re really proud of what’s coming together here in Mallow. Our goal is to create a cinema experience that feels special every time you visit. We can’t wait for people to see the changes for themselves.”
The Mallow upgrade follows the success of Arc Cinema’s relaunch in Cork city last year, which set a new benchmark for comfort and quality. For local film fans, the new Mallow venue promises the same high standards, ensuring movie nights in town are bigger and better than ever.
