Women across Mallow are being encouraged to lace up their runners and take part in a special parkrun event at Mallow Castle as part of Women in Sport Week 2026.
Led by Cork Sports Partnership, the initiative is promoting female participation in local parkruns, with a special invitation extended to women and girls of all abilities to join the Mallow Castle parkrun on Saturday, March 7th at 9:30am.
Parkrun is a free, community-based 5km event where participants can walk, jog, run, or do a mix of all three, in a welcoming and supportive environment. There is no pressure, no time requirement and no competition unless you want it to be. The focus is firmly on participation, confidence and community spirit.
The Mallow event forms part of a countywide celebration of Women in Sport Week, aimed at increasing visibility and involvement of women in physical activity and sport. Organisers are encouraging participants to bring a friend and help create a positive, energetic atmosphere in the grounds of Mallow Castle.
Registration is simple, participants can sign up once at parkrun.ie, print their barcode, and take part in any parkrun event nationwide.
With its scenic surroundings and strong local support, the Mallow Castle parkrun offers the perfect opportunity to get active, meet new people and celebrate Women in Sport Week in a fun and inclusive way.
