Major Milestone Reached in Fair Street Water Network Upgrade

The upgrade of Mallow’s Fair Street water network has passed an important stage, with both phases of road closures now complete and nearly 900 metres of new mains successfully installed.

In total, the project will see more than one kilometre of modern watermains laid. This investment is designed to reduce the risk of bursts, provide a more reliable service, and ensure that Mallow’s water infrastructure can support future growth and development.

Highlighting the benefits, Uisce Éireann Programme Manager Jack Cronin said:

“Great progress has been made on the pipelaying works, and we are grateful to the people of Mallow for their cooperation as this essential project moves forward. Once complete, these upgrades will enhance the water network, improving both capacity and reliability for households and businesses in the area.”

The scheme, which is scheduled for completion by late October 2025, will continue under traffic management measures, with flagmen in place to minimise disruption. Ward and Burke Construction Ltd are carrying out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

Customers can keep up to date on the project and other service updates through Uisce Éireann’s website, social channels (@IWCare and @IrishWater), or by calling the 24/7 customer care line on 1800 278 278.
