The ever-popular Mallow 10 Mile Road Race is already coming into focus as athletes and clubs across Munster begin marking their 2026 calendars. Organised by Mallow Athletic Club, the event—one of the largest 10-mile races in the province—returns on March 22nd, 2026, promising another highly competitive and well-supported edition.
The race has also secured the return of a key supporter, with Barry-John Ryan Financial Planning once again confirmed as a main sponsor. “We’re delighted to announce that once again we will be one of the main sponsors of the Mallow AC 2026 Annual 10 Mile Road Race,” the firm said in its statement this week.
The 2026 field is expected to be stronger than ever, following standout performances earlier this year. Barry Twohig of St. Finbarr’s is the reigning men’s champion, having claimed the 2025 title in a superb 52:46, while Niamh Moore of Leevale dominated the women’s category in 58:50.
As anticipation builds for March, attention turns to one of the region’s fastest races: the Newmarket 5k, taking place on 7 December. Renowned for its rapid times, the out-and-back course is flat, fast, and stays almost entirely within the confines of Newmarket, making it a favourite for athletes chasing PBs.
