Mystery and excitement have been swirling around the Mallow Retail Park as “let agreed” signs appeared on a unit, sparking rumours about potential new tenants.
The retail park already boasts Co-Op Superstores, Lidl Ireland, Esquires Coffee Ireland, and a Speed Queen Ireland Self-Service Laundrette, making it a key shopping destination in the area.
Among the names frequently mentioned is JYSK, the Danish homewares brand with outlets in Little Island, Blackpool, Youghal, and Ballincollig.
A spokesperson for JYSK told Mallow & District Live: “Unfortunately, we have no news of a store opening in Mallow as of yet. Possibly in the future, but nothing has been confirmed.”
JYSK, known for its Scandinavian design and affordable home solutions, is expanding its presence in Cork with a new store in Mahon Point later this year. That opening will bring the total number of JYSK outlets in the county to five, joining existing stores in Youghal, Ballincollig, Blackpool, and Eastgate.
Since opening its first store in Naas in 2019, JYSK has continued to grow across Ireland, with locations from Letterkenny to Youghal, offering customers stylish and budget-friendly homeware solutions.
While Mallow shoppers may have to wait a little longer for a JYSK branch, the bigger question remains: who will be moving into the new unit at Mallow Retail Park?
