West End Art Studios in Mallow will open its doors on Friday, 20 February at 6:00 pm for a fashion photography exhibition by renowned local photographer Gerard O’Meara. The exhibition will also be open on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, and again from Tuesday 25th to Friday 28th, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The gallery will be closed on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th.
The exhibition showcases fashion photography from the late 1960s through to the 1980s, capturing the evolution of style and culture over two transformative decades. Visitors can explore the transition from black-and-white photography in the 1960s and early 1970s to the vibrant colour imagery that reflects the changing times. The collection offers inspiration for students and enthusiasts of fashion alike, providing a unique visual history of the era.
Gerard O’Meara, born in Cork City in 1944 and now residing in Mallow, began photography at the age of 14 and secured his first professional commission at just 18. Throughout his career, theatre and fashion photography have remained his passions, and this exhibition offers a rare opportunity to experience his work spanning decades.
