The Dromtarriffe Dollies will take centre stage as a host club for the Gaelic4Mothers&Others Festival of Football & Wellbeing Day, which takes place at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday, 25th July 2026, in aid of the Cork Mental Health Foundation. Following the success of last year’s event, the 2026 festival promises another lively celebration of women’s sport, wellbeing, and community spirit, with 30 Gaelic4Mothers&Others teams from across Cork and beyond taking part. Joining Dromtarriffe Dollies as host clubs are Bride Rovers G4M&O and Carrigtwohill Cougars, with the event organised by Rosaleen O’Brien.
Gaelic4Mothers&Others, an award-winning initiative run by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association (LGFA) and sponsored nationally by Sports Direct, provides women over 25 with a fun, inclusive, and non-competitive way to play football, promote wellbeing, and build social connections, no prior experience required. Ladies Gaelic Football continues to grow rapidly in Ireland and Europe, and initiatives such as Gaelic4Mothers&Others have helped drive grassroots participation. In 2026, there are over 600 teams nationwide, with more than 60 teams in Cork, demonstrating the initiative’s unique mix of inclusivity, community spirit, and passion for sport.
Wellbeing will once again be a key focus for the festival, with Healthy Ireland (Cork County Council) delivering positive mental health talks throughout the day. Cork Sports Partnership will host family games and yoga sessions for all ages, while 96FM Cork provides entertainment with an MC and DJ. All proceeds from the festival go directly to the Cork Mental Health Foundation, supporting vital local services. The festival is fully supported by Cork GAA, who provide access to SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and its facilities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and memorable experience for players, families, and supporters.
Speaking ahead of the festival, organiser Rosaleen O’ Brien said: “Gaelic4Mothers&Others is about much more than football. It’s about confidence, connection and belonging. Hosting this festival in SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh sends a powerful message about the importance of women’s participation and mental wellbeing within our communities. We are hugely grateful to Cork GAA, Healthy Ireland in Cork County Council, Cork Sports Partnership, LGFA, Munster LGFA, Cork LGFA & 96FM for their support in bringing this event to Cork once again.”
