Doneraile Samhain Festival to Go Ahead in Honour of Barry Daly

The Doneraile Samhain Festival will go ahead this year with a clear mission – to make it the best one yet, organisers have said, in honour of the late Barry Daly.

In a statement, the festival organisers explained that they met with Barry Daly’s family to discuss the event.

“Barry’s family are fully supportive of the festival going ahead as planned and are looking forward to attending the parade on 31st October at 3:30 PM,” the statement read. “Barry loved Halloween and would have been fully behind the festival’s plans. We especially look forward to seeing Ann and Liam Daly, Willie John, and Joan O’Reilly, with whom we shared fond memories today. Thank you all for your support, let’s make this the best festival yet, in honour of Barry and for the whole community.”

A native of Newtwopothouse near Mallow, Barry Daly worked with An Post for over eight years and was a well-known and popular postman in Mallow town. He was remembered at his funeral as a community hero and a devoted family man.

Earlier this week, An Post issued a statement saying staff were “shocked and saddened at the untimely death of our colleague, Barry Daly. We offer our deepest sympathy to Barry’s family. May he rest in peace.”

During the funeral service, Barry’s youngest son, Archie, described his father as “the best dad, a really funny person, and someone who always made him laugh.”

This year, the Doneraile Samhain Festival promises to be a heartfelt celebration of community spirit and a fitting tribute to Barry Daly,
