Doneraile is the place to be next Sunday as the historic park and court open their doors for a special day of exploration and music.
The event kicks off with the last guided tour of the season through Doneraile Park & Gardens.
Starting at 2:30pm (please arrive by 2:00pm) from the main car park near the playground, historian Michael O’Sullivan will lead visitors through the beautifully landscaped grounds, delving into the estate’s rich history and the influence of the St. Leger family over the centuries. Attendees will gain unique insights into how the parkland evolved into the elegant setting we enjoy today. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
Following the tour, visitors can enjoy an afternoon of chamber music at Doneraile Court, where Vanbrugh & Friends will perform at 3pm.
The programme features a rarely heard Boccherini Quintet in E major, Charles Villiers Stanford’s uplifting String Quintet in F major, and Dvořák’s A major String Sextet, a masterpiece of gentle optimism.
The ensemble includes former Vanbrugh Quartet members Keith Pascoe (violin), Simon Aspell (viola), and Christopher Marwood (cello), joined by violinist Marja Gaynor, violist Ed Creedon, and cellist Maria O’Connor. This concert is supported by the Arts Council, RTE Lyric FM, Cork County Council, and the OPW.
Visitors can enjoy the seamless combination of history, culture, and music, making Sunday at Doneraile a must-visit experience.
