Charleville were crowned champions of the Synergy Credit Union JAFC on Saturday after a good battle against Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels.
The ‘Town’ side claimed their first title in a number of years having lost the last three finals in a row winning the game 0-18 to 0-13.
L/C Gaels to their credit never gave up and had a number of strong performers but just could make the effort count on the scoreboard.
Midway through the second half, Charleville lost Oran O’ Connell to a second yellow card and lost substitute David Forde, who had only got one possession on the ball before getting injured.
Charleville were strong across the pitch with Jack Callaghan, Darren Butler and Zach Biggane to the fore. Of course, the winning side had a number of standout performances and were able to call on Cork hurling star Darragh Fitzgibbon for a period in the second half.
Man of the match was awarded to top scorer Jack Callaghan of Charleville.
The Town side now go into the county section where they’ll meet Ballygarvan in the quarter final.
