Buttevant GAA Club has been granted full planning permission by Cork County Council for a major development that will significantly enhance facilities for players, supporters, and the wider community.
Cllr Tony O’Shea welcomed the approval, describing it as a “major step forward” for the club. He highlighted that the project will support players, families, and supporters for many years to come.
The approved plans include the demolition of the existing gym and boiler house and the construction of a new single-storey gym. Safety upgrades will be carried out, including the addition of fire escape doors, while the hurling wall will be extended and a high ball-stop net installed. A new all-weather astro turf pitch will be built with perimeter fencing, ball-stop nets, and floodlighting. The development also includes a social area alongside the pitch, together with all necessary drainage and site works.
John Paul O’Shea TD expressed his support for the project, emphasising its importance to the club and local community.
Architectural designer Awbeg Designs said they were “absolutely delighted” with the news, noting that the upgrade works will benefit teams from all age groups across the club and the wider community.
The development represents a significant investment in local sports infrastructure and is expected to provide lasting benefits for Buttevant GAA and its members.
