Eoghan Kenny, Labour TD for Cork North Central, has urged the Government to commit funding for the long-awaited Mallow Relief Road in October’s Budget.
Kenny said Mallow is experiencing significant housing growth, which he welcomed, but argued that new development must be matched with proper infrastructure. “New homes must come with safe roads, good pedestrian facilities, and modern public transport. The Relief Road is vital for this,” he said.
He also pointed to the gap between Ireland and other European countries when it comes to public transport. “In Europe, towns like Mallow enjoy reliable public transport as standard. Ireland is years behind. Mallow deserves real investment, not just promises.”
Kenny emphasised that the issue goes beyond party lines. “This is about community, not politics. I’ll work with anyone, across any party, to make the Relief Road a reality for our town.”
He concluded by calling for decisive action in the upcoming Budget, insisting that Mallow needs delivery, not further delay.
